Tradition
Baking Oil-balls is a tradition for New Year's Eve, but Manon (daughter) called me,
she can't come tomorrow evening because of a big New Year Party with friends.
'we like to come today, can you make my favourite dinner AND..please please can you make hand-made oil-balls today too?'
Of course my Dear!
So this morning in the kitchen for Mums delicious Oil-Balls.....recipe?
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
4 cups flour
4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. melted shortening
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup beer
1 cup raisins (boil in water, pour water off)
1 cup currents
1 cooking apple (cut in small pieces)
Mix all together and drop by small spoonsful in deep, hot fat ( as for doughnuts)
And tomorrow again; Jasper (son) and family are coming for dinner and evening........ENJOYABLE!!
