Fire in the sky, fire on the beach

Went on an epic mountain bike ride today. Only 31 km but it was no Nana ride (although it certainly did involve the use of granny gears).

We gave the kids a special treat tonight and let them stay up until after dark (and it doesn't get dark until 10:00PM) with a fire on the beach. This was totally safe, totally legal and totally magic. We enjoyed a stunning sunset to see out 2007 and the kids thought it was all quite amazing. It's neat to see the magic of events like this again through their eyes.
