Last Leaves--Paris

A glorious Sunday; temperatures up to 12C at least in the afternoon and not a cloud to be seen.

This is just a street corner in Paris's 13th arrondissement, at midday; the sun on the leaves caught my eye. We're on the fringe of our nearest street market. It takes place three days a week and on Sundays it's particularly large, extending along the Blvd. Auguste Blanqui for nearly a kilometer (I'd estimate) to the west from the Place d'Italie; you can find mainly food of all kinds, but also practically everything else you'd imagine in an open-air market. I took a number of more conventional market shots, but I liked this most of all. (Le Celtique is a bar and cafe on the corner.)

In the afternoon we went to an exhibit of ten Swedish photographers who formed a group called Tio Fotografer (in the mode of Magnum) in the 1950s. It was at the Swedish Institute in the Marais (Paris 3e)--wonderful images from many countries. Paris is a great place to see photography--this was my third exhibition, and there are at least another dozen we hope to see in the next few weeks.
