Tour de Glace

The snow came in with a vengance today, with wind and poor vis up the mountain, so we tried some other activities.

Two of us are entering the Gorzderette on Saturday, so we headed up to Champagny-le-Haut to get in some practice on ski-de-fond (cross-country) skis. Lucky we're not hoping to win on Saturday!

After an exciting adventure with snowchains (have you ever found one that was easy to fit?) we made it back down to the village, and headed up the hill to see what conditions were like. Great snow, but still windy and cold and very hard to see which way was up, so we retired after a lumpy bumpy windswept hour.

Back to the chalet for a wee sleep before heading up to the ice tower for a bit of climbing practice before the weekend.
