roll up
It was either this or some generic misty road-and-tree combos or a misty-dropleted-shpiderweb or a dead squirrel or a different spider with the sun behind it but none were really Lincolnshire-specific; the local Lancaster (now no longer the only flying example in the world but still) flew overhead earlier this afternoon (followed after half an hour by a small fleetlet of the louder and more common Tornadoes) but didn't result in a particularly interesting picture. I did think about getting one or more of the shops-of-interest-within-bicycling-distance such as Barker's of Tattershall where I got my first proper stereo as a child or Coningsby Bookshop where (very rarely) a pertinent book could be found but didn't photograph them. I might do the village signs (one on each of the main routes in) tomorrow. Strictly speaking I ought to enportraitify-and-post sister's boyfriend who managed to get up to meet us this weekend after a fortunate gap in his commitments appeared but there'll be other opportunities to get him in the future. The sign will suffice; the alluvial nature of much of south-of-the-Wolds bit of the county means that the soil is stuffed with lovely gravel and there are a number of used-up gravel pits alongside the road between Kirkby and Coningsby, some of which have been converted to duck-habitat, another of which is the local tip and others since transformed into Sludge Lagoons. If only more people knew.
As we have an additional guest my sister had to attempt to get our table for a meal this evening expanded but the initial target restaurant/pub had no further space so we shall now be going to a different restaurant/pub for which I must now away to prepare. I only have shorts with me so couldn't dress fancy even if it were required but have brought a vaguely tidyish (neither stained nor ripped) shirt which I apparently have to put on. At least it's within walking distance rather than walkable-during-daylight-hours-but-you'd-be-taking-your-life-in-your-hands-to-try-it-at-night-especially-in-Lincolnshire so there will be no need to sit in a nasty car at any point.
