inspired by the Bayer Tapestry
An industrial chemist, who had worked for the international chemical firm, Bayer, came to visit the Quaker Tapestry a few weeks ago. He realised that the Bayeaux Tapestry had influenced the overall design of the Quaker Tapestry. He told me that the international chemical firm, Bayer, had once used the Bayeaux Tapestry as inspiration to produce a pictorial history of the first 125 years of their company. He still had a copy of it at home and offered to send it to us. It duly arrived in the post.
For today's blip, I have set the first section of the Bayer Tapestry above the first section of the Bayeaux Tapestry.
Dyestuffs, aspirin, cine film and moth-proofing. All are recorded in this pseudo-Bayeaux style. What a clever piece of publicity - and what fun the artist must have had producing it.
