inspired by an elephant

I saw this elephant as I was waiting for the bus in Stramongate. There is another on at the other end of the building, which once was an inn in Stricklandgate.

The Elephant Inn, built around 1820, had a dining room seating 100 and stabling for 25 horses. It was once the centre of a lively industrial area containing houses and workshops where trades of various kinds were carried out. The name is now remembered in the shopping area named 'Elephant Yard'.

.......and in these two little elephant heads, a curious reminder of former days.
