inspired by laundries - old and new

We joined Friends at the Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness this afternoon. Much to my surprise, we had to wend our way through Beatrix Potter Land to get there - and then we were transformed, by the magic of Theatre, into another world. We had come to see Alan Ayckbourn's latest play, 'Surprises'. It was a comedy set in the future, but with pithy observations on modern lifestyles and their possible outcomes. I guess the average age of the audience was somewhere between 65 and 70, so there was something a little scarey contemplating our lives twenty or even thirty years from now!

The New Laundry? My washing machine is now up and running in its new home. Inspiration indeed!
