inspired by a special place
I traveled with a Friend to Brigflatts Meeting house today to attend a workshop on 'Helping ourselves and our children to grow spiritually'. As I wasn't driving, I had the opportunity to appreciate what must be one of the most spectacular road journeys in the country. As always, a warm welcome awaited us at the Meeting House, a beautiful, lime-washed building dating from 1677 and recognised as one of England's vernacular gems
The feeling of peace extends across the road to the simple burial ground, a small areaof land on the side of a hill, peppered with simple uniform gravestones, and carpeted with beech leaves. I looked over the wall to the hills beyond. The sun was shining through the clouds onto a distant hill and the autumn trees were shrouded in a gentle mist.
I am prepared to tolerate many days of heavy rain for one day like this.
