inspired by warm hospitality

We were going to stay at home this afternoon but the call of the hills got the better of us and we set off for a late lunch at Crosskeys, a Temperance hotel in the Howgills renowned locally for its Sunday lunches. We weren't disappointed.

After a satisfying meal, we joined other guests in the lounge for coffee. Perhaps 'snug' would better describe the cosy, relaxed atmosphere that had been created by the owners and maintained by a visiting chef and his colleague who were there for the season while the owners were in South Africa, supporting a project they had set up for disadvantaged children.

The real log fire and the comfy chairs reflected the generously warm welcome we had all received and enjoyed.
