Birds With Hats

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

I think I have mentioned the California Quail before. They are regular visitors to our garden, but only in Spring and Summer. 

They have a distinctive call, and are kind of chicken-like when they go scratching around in our garden. The sweetest thing about them is that they are always in pairs, or little families when their come out of the nest. 

Last year we had five of them following each other around out there.

PLUS they have little hats that they wear all the time. You can just about make out Mr. Quail's plume in this very blurry photo. 

Our little garden brings us an inordinate amount of pleasure. Mostly of the feathered variety.
