Silent?
Nice to have A here in the morning for tea and chat before we got up and ready. We had a breakfast roll and coffee in a cafe near the station and then she went off for some shopping whilst I got the train over to Glasgow. There were quite a few people dressed to the nines for their Christmas parties on the train and in the city centre…definitely an air of celebration around.
It was mild and dry as I walked up to S.O. (Glasgow is so hilly!) and I got to the office in time for the pre-meet before the Board meeting. I had to Chair the meeting as our usual Chair was at a funeral, but all seemed to go ok and we had some good discussions.
We continued into the evening with their Christmas party…the staff certainly seemed set up for a riotous evening but I just stopped for a drink and a chat with a few people before walking back to the station. By then it was lashing with rain and not very nice to be out in! I just managed to catch the train that was about to leave, it was the one before then one I was booked on so it felt like a win!
Chucking with rain when I arrived in Edinburgh, and so another unpleasant walk up to home. On the way I passed this group on a ‘silent’ disco (when they’re all singing at the top of their voices along with the song they’re listening to it’s not so silent!). They seemed to be enjoying themselves despite the weather but everyone else was dashing along, heads down, to get to their destinations.
Home and got my wet coat and shoes off. S was already here and settled on the sofa and once I had some tea we settled down to watch Black Doves and Gogglebox before bed. Looking forward to a weekend of Christmas fairs.
