December Dusk

The large oak trees which border the meadow loom large in the twilight. Birds sing farewell to the day as the darkness comes down. Merlin and I enjoy this time together. It’s very peaceful. We walk home through the village and wash our muddy feet and boots in the stream.

Today a barn owl nesting box has been installed on one of the oak trees next to the meadow. We’ve seen a barn owl hunting there on summer evenings.

It’s been the first day in a week or so without a significant wind chill. It remains very grey.
