Day Fifteen: Notre Dame de Lorette
Backblip:
Last full day of holiday and thankfully the rain cleared and the sun came out to provide some glorious weather to finish of the holiday. We headed off (with two out of three children) for a really nice visit to Arras where we had some excellent coffee and patisserries and (later) a very pleasant pasta lunch. We headed back for the gite via the breathtaking Canadian Memorial at Vimy Ridge and then the French National Cemetery at Notre Dame de Lorette where the thousands of graves once again brought the enormity of war to us. The feel of these two sites were quite different from the other cemeteries we visited on holiday but no less moving.
