Anniversary Meal

Well we made it to 30 years...........

This was our Surprise Anniversary Meal in " The Bush "

We had another wonderful day, 2 Game Drives, saw a Cheetah, in fact we were on our way back to Camp, it was dropping dusk, and Douglas had a call over the radio to say a Cheetah had been spotted, we then made a mad dash across a very bumpy terrain to find him, we also saw Elephants and Giraffe today.

So now we have seen No. 2 of the big 5.

On our return from the morning Gamedrive, Jayne had been sitting on the terrace reading her book, and having a cigarette, I was just chilling inside the tent, she started to come back into the tent, when all of a sudden, she started doing the same war dance as Pete had done the day before, apparently a little vervet monkey had come onto the terrace, and was about to take off with her cigarettes......

The meal in the Bush was brilliant, we were walked into the Bush by a Samburu Warrior, who gave us a more than informative look into their lives.

The Men are publicly circumsized when they are 15 and under no circumstances are they allowed to shout out, or whince in pain..............OUCH !! They have all their male friends around them, shouting out words of encouragement.

Once circumsized they are then classed as Warriors, and keep the settlement safe from predators, its now that they get to wear all the wonderful jewellery that you see them wearing, when they reach the age of 30 they take a wife who would normally be around the age of 15 !

Now they become Elders, making decisions in the camp, whilst the women do all the work................sound familiar, they ditch all the Jewellery, and sit around all day chatting !!

We had a lovely evening, sitting under stars waiting for a Lion to step out from behind a bush, but it didnt, and I live to tell the tale.
