Sally Mair - Loving life

Market Day

Today was even hotter than yesterday but we'd planned to go to Fethiye to the market so after breakfast in the terrace area of the dining room we headed off to catch the Dolmus.
Fethiye is only around 5km away, so doesn't take long but it is a bit of an up and down hill road.
When we reached the bus station we headed off to the market area. We timed it badly as it was just heading for the hottest part of the day. We wandered through the 'designer' clothes arts but resisted. The main blip is one of the many cycle seekers, these are a cross between pretzels and savoury rolls. Very tasty. We spent time in the fruit and veg area. The extra shows some of what is available. The black fruits are mulberries, the red strawberries - the rest are fairly obvious I think, the range of olives is extraordinary.
We walked along the harbour front into the town and spent a peaceful half hour in a promenade front cafe overlooking the bay and the bay areas of boats. The weather was not conducive to shopping though so we ended up getting back onto a Dolmus and arriving at the hotel in time for lunch. Our excursion has cost us the grand total of 102 TL, about £1.20.
We had another afternoon by the pool, the numbers in the hotel are still delightfully low, but are due to swell by 100 guests on Thursday, we'll notice the difference. I swam again this afternoon, it's so nice and relaxing.
