Marija Braut

Marija Braut is Croatian Helen Levitt. Like Levitt with NYC , Braut has photographed Zagreb streets with her Rolleiflex all her life, . Her life story is interesting almost like her photographs. She started to exhibit and work professionally when she turned 40, after she left her family ( husband and son) and comforts of upper middle class life. She became bohemian artist mingled with photographers and poets . Now well on her '80 her daily routine is always the same walk from home to oldest wine bar in Zagreb's old town for glass or two of gemist and cigarets.
