Joshua Tree Day 3 - Model Fun
65/365
(Part of a series of backblips)
Before we left on vacation we hired a model from Palm Springs to come to our property in Joshua Tree so that we could do a shoot in the Park and with some of the unique features of the house.
It was a family affair - with all of us taking photos including the girls (6 & 4). Charlie was very experienced (we actually saw her on a billboard at the side of the Interstate later in the week in Palm Springs) and loved the kids which was a definite bonus; also she did confirm that they were the youngest to photograph her!
We definitely worked her - we had already given some instruction ahead of the shoot with regards to clothing, hair and makeup. We did 3 hair changes, 3 make-up changes and 4 outfit changes. After 5 hours of shooting we were exhausted.
I had never photographed a professional model before so it was a new experience for me. My husband had a little more experience and had recently done something similar in Death Valley see here.
It was a great learning experience for me - I really need to compose my pictures better. I found I was so eager to keep pressing that button rather than taking my time to compose the photo. Also we both realized post shoot that we should have given her better direction.
Little big girl had a great time she happily gave direction to the poses she wanted, I posted a few shots here of her in action and some of her shots. Little monster spent most of her time picking flowers for Charlie to hold.
A lot of my pictures I realized afterwards were missing limbs and severely cutoff at pivotal junctions of the body! This was my favorite of the day. I posted my other favorites here.
What’s your favorite?
Before Charlie arrived we watched sunrise again and did a short hike in the Park. Once we finished we headed back into the park with Pizza for a sunset picnic. We slept well that night!
