Memorable Muscat

On the odd occassion.....its very hard to choose just one picture to sum up an experience and not wanting to do Muscat an injustice....I've made a collage of some memorable of my more memorable snaps!

GK has a selection too Here, I think we've managed not to duplicate amazingly!!

I was impressed with

....the largest birdbath, in gold no less,
....the old area with the beautiful flame trees
....the ancient building on the modern seafront
....the beautiful sculpture of the dolphins

...and the magnificent ship which is located on the roundabout leading to the Al Bustan Palace Hotel and opposite the Rulers Majlis. It has a story to tell!!

It was built for the 10th Anniversary celebrations and sailed from Oman to China. It was built in the traditional style with no modern equipment and recreated the original journey taken by Sinbad the Sailor who originally came from Sohar, a naval port further down the coast from Muscat!

True story...he was a real live character around whom many legends have grown up!!
