Day Ten: Tyne Cot
Backblip:
First day in Belgium and we spent it in and around Ypres. Firrstly for a return visit to the most excellent museum In Flanders Field which I thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to get a real feel for exactly what went on in the Great War. Ypres itself is a wonderful town and it's quite sobering to see the pictures in the museum of it completely flattened in the War. Like a lot of towns in Belgium it was reconstructed exactly as the original.
Ater Ypres we visited a few Commonwealth War Graves, this is the largest (in the world) Tyne Cot and is a moving and beautiful place. In a rather strange way I find these places quite uplifting as it's truely remarkable how well they are cared for, maintained and visited even after so much time has past. It doesn't look like it was busy from this shot but I had to wait in this spot for over ten minutes just for a few secnds with visitors in shot.
