Son Number One is a Student Cliche

I sent Son number one an Email
'Your package has arrived! We will see you about 12ish.. BE READY and we will go out for Sunday Lunch! Your loving Marmee xxx'
We arrived at 1ish (we know him)
First problem no bell or knocker so resorted to endless banging on the plastic door
(which doesn't resonate as well as a wooden door)
......Eventually a voice was heard on the otherside 'Can you go 'round the back I've lost the front door key.'
We go 'round the back and after striding over various deep crevices in the back yard get into the house.
There is Son Number One... still in dressing gown... looking the worse for wear.
I said 'Your not ready!' (always stae the obvious)
He said' Do you think you could come back later? there was a party last night and I only got to bed at 8 o'clock.'
Parents speechless... How far had we travelled?
We go to his room (I say 'go' implying an easy transit thru rooms up stairs and into his room.Believe me it was a carefully negotiated journey.)
Hand over package which is a new mobile phone wait for him to find new telephone number and make furthur arrangements to come back in a couple of hours.
As we leave he says 'If you want a cup of tea could you bring back some milk ?!'
We wander around Leeds in very pleasant sunshine exploring the city (forced too as the Art Gallery was closed for refurbishment)
We come back He's up and alert and we are shown round and meet his fellow students.
I have a conversation about his course and Feminist literature (latest module)
Get lent a book by Ben the Friend have a short discussin about the state of the whole house and ask 'Was the party here?' Son no1 looks confused 'No It was down the road.'
'So this mess is normal state of affairs?' Quick as flash Son no1 retorts...
'Ben's Mum comes over to tidy his room every week.'

This blip is not the best blip but it is the one that sums up the state of the WHOLE house
We fill up his EMPTY fridge We get a cup of tea(very nice) Iam told not tlo lean in the table as someone was sick on it and the half completed jigsaw puzzle...
We hand over some money we leave
We drive out of Leeds camera shy says 'He looks well and Happy doesn't he?
I have to agree he does.
