Frank (44) / Magdeburg/ Jobless / Homeless

Born in Hannover, Frank came to Magdeburg without any aim in his mind. Two years ago he took a train from Berlin and he decided (during the journey) to land on Magdeburg railway station to start a new life in this city. By profession, Frank was a building painter but he had to leave his job because of a skin disease he caught up during the work. For last 7 years, he is jobless. He has no family and no house. He spends his day on the street with his dearest friend Wolfgang. In the night he sleeps in a shelter house provided by city government. Frank told me he was addicted to Alcohol and needed to drink at regular intervals otherwise he would feel paralyzed.

Frank's remarks about Magdeburg were, "It's a lovely city".

Frank knew few words of english, for example, "It's alright" and "Why not?" which he spoke during our converstation as many times as one could imagine. A very nice, open and frank person who tried to hide his problems under the laugh.
