I don't know how effective it was, but I heard about blipfoto.com through the Lauren Laverne radio show on BBC6 Music. You see, I'm a primary school teacher and over the summer I had NOTHING to do for six weeks.
Yes, I could have been doing lesson plans, reading up on the latest curriculum models and policies, but the thing is, I'm moving to a new school, a new way of working and I don't know how it's all going to work. I decided to give myself a rest over the summer and that meant that many a morning, I was lazing around the house listening to the radio, then one morning in early August, the founder of this site came on air explaining how it all works and I was intrigued.
A decade back, I really enjoyed photography. I did it at school and some even though I had a bit of an eye for it. But like so many things you do when you're younger, as you get older, you have less time, or money to keep up certain things. In my case, I pretty much abandoned photography once I started Uni' because I had so many other things to contented with. After Uni', I went into teacher-training and from that work as a teacher.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I have "massive" holidays as a teacher where I could have picked up the camera and got back into it. Well, I didn't, until now, I even went out and treated myself to an affordable digital slr-type camera and now I'm trying to make it work.
