The haunted house by the moor

This derelict house sits on the edge of the moor near where I live. According to local rumour, the house was once occupied by an elderly spinster and her trusted companion 'Belle', a border collie. One wet winters night during a power cut, the old lady ventured onto the moor to collect firewood - she never returned.

Belle, who was trapped alone in the house, died some weeks later of starvation. The story has it that every wet night, when darkness falls over the moor, you can hear 'Belles' distant but distraught howls.
