Goitside Millscape
It's now light enough for me to take a few pictures on the way home for work, which is handy if I've had a busy day like today. Today, there was a strong late afternoon sun, which was bringing out the nice warm tones in the city sandstone. Which makes it rather perverse to go for a mono image, but somehow mono and mills seem to go together.
This scene is looking from the lower end of Great Horton Road, across Thornton Road toward Sunbridge and Grattan Roads, into part of an area known collectively as Goitside. The Goitside Development Trust is trying to promote the redevelopment of this area of Bradford, and as can be seen in the image, the mills are in varius states of use and repair. I featured the large derelict mill in the centre of the image in an earlier blip.
