Here I am!
I'm up here. Blip me!" sang the chickadee from the top of the evergreen tree.
So I did! Finally...some signs of spring. Yesterday I saw my first chipmunk of the season. I think it is a little strange that chipmunks hibernate, but squirrels don't. Seeing him was a definite sign of spring for me. Then today I am sure I heard the voice of a redwing blackbird. They may not be melodic, but that's okay because, melodic or not, they are another early sign of spring. As I walked through the woods these last few blue-sky-days, I was thrilled to hear the songbirds announcing the arrival of spring. I haven't seen bulbs sprouting yet and the trails are still covered with ice, but winter is losing its grip. I know because the chipmunks, blackbirds, and other songbirds have announced it. Isn't it grand!
