Snooted!

Taken with a home made snoot over my off camera flash unit, a lead between them, if you're careful aiming the narrow stream light you can get some excellent effects. Black velvet background, flower held in a multi grip type clamp. I used the Orton process to liven it a little and a duped layer with soft efect to soften the outer petals...sounds complicated...it took me no more than 10 mins from start to finish<g>
