The Edge of the Wold

Love birds

Yet another jackdaw blip. This pair of lovers have set up home in our neighbour's chimney. Maybe it's the same pair as last year. Who can tell?

The male is quite adoring, he was tenderly preening his mate on top of the chimney. Perhaps in her pleasure, she was fluffing up the feathers on her head.

Our neighbours have central heating and don't use their chimney. It's just as well as it will be chock full with sticks that the jackdaws have carried in over the years for their nest. I have mentioned before in this journal the time a pair managed to nest in our chimney, they filled it from bottom to top with twigs, and when they had finished, it took the sweep two attempts to clear. The jackdaws here are semi-colonial, nesting pairs are scattered about in the neighbourhood, and they spend the days roaming around in small gangs, chacking away merrily.

I took a day off today. I really needed a rest, the last few weeks have been a bit draining. I also wanted to keep out of the way while the selection process was going on in the Kendal office. I went for a walk to Far Arnside to check on how the wild daffodils are coming on, it looks like they will not be flowering for another few days yet, so I won't be blipping them this weekend.

Have a good weekend everyone.
