Belinda

Every year the children in Year 1 study old toys in History. And every year I am the history together with my doll! So today it was Belinda's annual day out. The photo is of me holding Belinda 50 years ago. The reason she has survived so long is because she is made of rubber and is virtually indestructable.

My grandmother was a great seamstress, my great-grandparents were tailors, and whenever I visited her she had made me a new dress. With the leftover fabric she would also make a matching dress for Belinda.

Sadly Belinda only has this dress left and mine have long since gone. My daughters played with her and maybe, one day, my grandchildren will play with her and it will be my turn to make her a new dress.

In the meantime its back in the cupboard for Belinda - until next year.
