Doors

This isn't your typical door but it's certainly is fitting for the desert. Our daughter and son-in-law are visiting for a few days and this door got me thinking about all the doors that have closed with new ones opening throughout our lives. When our girls went off to kindergarten I was so sad, thinking the best years were behind us. Silly thought now but not then. But like so many times, new doors opened. New friends and new adventures awaited us and it just continued through all the school years. When the girls left for college I was sure the door was closing again. But, another door opened full of friends from all over the country, Parents Weekends, tailgating parties and on and on. Then they were off to a different state for their jobs....again, new doors opened. Fun trips to San Francisco, new apartments to decorate and exciting careers. The last door that closed was when our oldest daughter got married. She was no longer ours. So quickly, though, a new door opened with a wonderful son-in-law and his family entering into our lives, along with his many new friends.. With the kids here with us now I am even more aware of these open doors. Our lives are fuller than they've ever been!
