NYC subway

I watched this scene across from me on the F train today. A homeless man got on and stood by the door, head bent down, avoiding eye contact with anyone. Usually they avoid riders. This one decided to take a seat when one became available. I watched the girl grimace as he sat next to her but she did not move. Having been there before, I knew she wanted to get up and away from this man. Maybe, as I once felt, she wanted to let him have some dignity before her stop came up.
