The Island Escape
I found it difficult to keep track of where we were. We set sail from Santa Cruz on Tenerife - yesterday we were in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria - today we are in Santa Cruz of Las Palmas. And the 'home port' of the ship (the base from which it makes the most of its cruises) is Palma in Mallorca.
Just to add to the confusion, the logo of Island Cruises is a very cleverly-designed palm tree. Look at it in large, and you will see that it is simply five round-cornered squares. The intersections are coloured to make the palm tree, and the other colours suggest sand, sea and sky.
If the boat had been parked the other way round, I might have been tempted to put an arrow on it, pointing to "our cabin". We had a balcony, just behind the lifeboats. Because of the additional outside area, we had a very small inside space. I don't think we'd go for this option again. But it was very pleasant (when the weather was fine) sitting on our balcony.
The Titanic was 46000 tonnes, and the Island Escape is 40000. Means, really, that it is not much smaller than the famous one.
