Winterings is up the side of Gunnerside Ghyll and these small holdings would have been thriving about 150 years ago at the height of the lead mining industry. The furthest left one is permanently occupied, the other one is a holiday cottage - no mains services, only accessible when its dry by landrover. Hard places to live especially in thw winter.
