The 'new' bulbs

This is one of the new-fangled CFL light bulbs. Touted to last much, much longer than incandescent bulbs, they will, by federal law, replace the 'old' incandescents by 2013.

While efficiency and longevity are a given, there's more to the story. These new bulbs contain high levels of mercury. Disposal will require stringent measures.

Can you say, additional health hazards and probably a brand new government bureaucracy to deal with this 'progress?'
