Spotlight on a burst BAW

I am ready for getting committed any day now.
I was struggling to get a blip today so shut myself in the darkened toilet in my room with a burst football that just happened to be in the wardrobe and used a small flash light to get some light on the subject.
I feel that i have now officially lost it and gone to blipland.
What lengths will i go to next to get that next elusive blip.
