Children's Hospital
In addition to my artist's association, I also work with a non-profit called "Art For Life", which pairs up community artists with day-treatment students at Children's Hospital in Denver. We work together for several months on a project, which is then displayed in the Frederic C. Hamilton family art gallery.
Sometimes space at the day-treatment center can be at a premium, as you can see by the small table we were given to work on, but we always manage to make the most of it. Today we started with a fun warm-up exercise by making ink blot patterns on folded paper, then practiced painting washes over an ink drawing of a tree. My student hadn't worked with both ink and watercolor before, so she found the whole process rather intriguing.
