'The Carnival is Over'...

...by The Seekers occupies 30th place in the all time UK singles best sellers list. It is sung at the end of most party events in Australia, apparently, and would have closed the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, had Judith Durham (the lead singer) not broken her hip. The Seekers have a personal significance for me as my late father loved the group dearly, and many of their upbeat numbers as well as their more wistful ones are part of the musical wallpaper of my childhood! And I love listening to them still.

The carnival is literally over here in Rio with the country going back to work at 12 noon! Interestingly, none of our workers showd up at all! Let's see what tomorrow brings.
