Shadowplay
Got up this morning at 5am to drive to Boise because Barack Obama came for a visit. I wanted to get some photos. When we got there the lines were literally a 1/2 mile long. People had been waiting since 4am and I heard some people talking about others that had been there all night. That's too much dedication for me. As we were walking to the end of the line we spotted another line, shorter, at one of the arena entrances. We quickly went that way. After 20 minutes standing in that line some official came and told us we weren't actually in a line, the 1/2 mile line snaked around the building and they weren't going to let the several hundred standing there meld into the incoming line "to be fair to those who have been waiting". Fair enough. But, by then it was too late to hike to the end and expect to get in before the event was over, not to mention having about zero chance to get close enough to the stage to get good photos. So, we bagged it and went to breakfast.
Later, I was shooting some photos (these among them) and met a woman who was out walking. She said it was a good event, the arena was nearly full (although there was a section empty) and they were setting out speakers for those who couldn't get in. That would have been us.
It's a good thing that Obama was able to generate such a crowd. Idaho rarely gets visited since it's such a Republican lock, even by Republicans (although Bush has been here twice but not on "public" tours - only for those GOPs with fat cash).
I think my day was more productive, overall.
Do I have to say there is no border on this? There's no border on this blip. The lines between photos are just spaces.
