Twin Calves Take First Steps

Just before sunset, I drove by a pasture where I was fortunate to watch this cow prod her newborn twins to their feet to take their first shakey steps. If you look closely, you can see remnants of the umbilical cord on the calf on the left. The calf on the right was first to stand up, so it is a little more cleaned up.

I hope the mother can keep these little ones from stumbling onto the thin ice on the pond behind them!
