Old habits

Being able to walk outside late at night in the back garden without having to gear up like Shackleton has been a real treat. It's still one of my favorite things to do even though the reason I used to do it every night, no longer exists.

The last thing before turning in was always letting the pooch out for a last sniff and ablutions and watching her visit every little corner like she hadn't sniffed it before. She would tunnel through the deep snow even though I fastidiously shoveled a network of paths for her convenience. I would survey the sleeping neighbors across the alley, listen to the few night sounds or the wind, let her walk around for about fifteen minutes and then call her in. I miss that dog. A lot. I'm not ready for another dog though, probably won't have one again, unless Bailey is for sale, which I doubt.

I've been using the 100mm Canon lens for ages and today was the first time that I noticed the irritatingly grainy texture in the viewfinder. They claim it helps with manual focus but I think that's nonsense. I need to figure out if there is a way to deactivate the texture. Plus I would really like a remote, some simple lighting and...the list goes on. Want want want...need? need? need?
