Same Size Feet

I wondered when the day would arrive when you boys would be wearing the same size feet. Take a walk with me now down Memory Lane to a year ago and the same blank wall. The bougainvillea still waits like an always bridesmaid, blushing and ready to bloom but more comfortable in the shade.
Callum right looks much like his Mama right at the same age and actually Reuben is much like my sister Anne-Marie, left in picture and her daughter Aurora.

Today really was a much better day after Monday's monumental news. We even made a simple little video for my dear friend in CHARGE, Kristi, today celebrating her birthday, and she reminded me of the day when she met Reu aged 3 months after meeting her family for 5 minutes in an elevator ride at a CHARGE conference, a ride I didn't want to end and kept pressing the buttons to allow us to talk more. Reu still goes to sleep nightly twiddling their softie rabbit gift, much as he has done for the last 3 years.

One fine day I'll backtrack if you haven't seen our news on Facebook. My stomach was too sickened to photograph beyond some snaps and video. But thank you so very much for all the quite incredible comments, offers of help, support, referrals and everything else that is going to make this latest Everest easier to climb. When you're told your child's neck will have to be broken, spare bones removed, others grafted in place, and then he'll be wearing a metal halo screwed into his head, well, I guess uncomfortably numb springs to mind.

School with Callum was delightful today and when Callum eats his lunch, he gets a cookie afterwards so that makes him a very happy boy indeed, coyly standing by the cookie lady's door, his chin dropped and a little smile with closed lips across his face, breaking into a polite request. I loved hearing from the teachers how he's talking more and helping some of the other kids. So very reassuring.

And this afternoon, well, we just got messy, I mean really really messy, as Reu would say. And this evening, Carrie, Reu's former PT for 3 years came to visit with the realisation that we haven't seen her now for nearly a year. It helped to talk about The Big Issue.
