What's this?

It is, of course, the balloon originally bought for Valentine's Day. When we left for our cruise (Feb 24), it was still fully blown-up. On our return last Friday, it was just a little deflated. I cut it free from its weight, and it floated around the kitchen.

This morning, it was still ceiling-high; so I weighted it down so as to bring it down to floor level. I was hoping to catch a blip from either Jess or Molly, and this is what I got - with Jess quite puzzled as to what this strange object is.

Three years ago (Molly's first Valentine day), the balloon did not last very long at all. It had been flying in the kitchen, at just about the same spot as this year's. Molly grabbed the string and ran out into the garden with it. Before either of us could get out there and rescue the balloon, she had chewed the string, and off it flew to the heavens.
