And there it goes...
As I mentioned yesterday, construction began across the street from me. Where there was acres and acres of wooded land, there will be 32 new homes by the end of the year.
It breaks my heart seeing all of the trees go...so many animals call that area their home. We've seen turkeys, all sorts of birds, deer, skunks, and have heard coyotes howling at night. My hawk blip last week was in a tree that is now no longer there.
I decided to get some info on the development from the Town Hall. The homes will start at around $320,000, all will have at least an acre of land. Some of the houses are already 'accounted for'....there will be a family with a little girl Jacks age. The old 'falling apart' stone wall that lines our road right across the street from us will be rebuilt.
We spoke to a couple of people that were doing the clearing, including the head of the development. They will be leaving most of the trees with the exception of the ones that line the road. They need to clear those to move the stone wall, the town is requiring them to clear back 20 ft. from the road.
The tree above is one of two HUGE trees that are directly in front of our house. They shaded our house in the summer. Now, they are no longer there.
Of course, Jack is more than excited to see the big construction trucks outside. But he did ask me, "Where are all the birds going to go?"
