Fire Escape To Nowhere...
Another shot taken with the Pro HDR app on the iPhone (one of the best photography apps that's available as far as I'm concerned)
This building is just up the road from me and it always fascinates me. There's a funky New York style fire escape on the end of the building which is just used to hold various plant pots with shrubs and plants - I guess in an attempt to make an otherwise ugly and plain expanse of brick look a bit trendier.
But how do you get on to the fire escape in the first place? The bottom of it is about ten feet off the ground and it doesn't actually connect to any windows like a real fire escape would.
On a side note, I wish they hadn't hacked the tree just to the left of the picture to bits, it looks incredibly ugly :-( I'm no tree surgeon but isn't that a case of extreme pruning?
Edit: My mate Matt who is a landscape gardener provided some background info on this - it's called The Vertical Garden and apparently cost a ridiculous amount of money...
