Queen Anne

Queen Anne.

This is part of a military memorial in Princess Street Gardens. The first time I paid any attention to it was when I was going for a walk with my friend C1 in the Gardens during a bright summers day. We read the inscriptions and admired the sculpture and walked back across the little patch of grass to the path.

A rather grumpy man was banging a sign into a tiny circle cut out of the grass. 'If that signs says 'Please keep off the grass' I'll laugh' I said to C1. She smiled.

We walked on and at the path I turned back to see the grumpy man standing next to his sign with his hands on his hips giving us the evil eye.

'KEEP OFF THE GRASS'. Said the sign.

'Not even a please' said C1.
