Anhinga
We drove to Sanibel from Ft Myers this morning. Looking forward to a fabulous breakfast in Mel's Diner along the way, but it was closed. For good. *&^% recession.
No golf for Mr. L today :) so we drove through the Ding Darling Wildlife refuge before heading out to Bowman's Beach for the sunset. Seeing as I am hoping to do a lot of bird photography while I am here (Florida's birds being so obliging) I have to include a shot of one. Here's the magnificent anhinga. It's a relative of the cormorant and it hangs it's wings out to dry in exactly the same way. When it gets in the water though, it becomes long, thin and agile - hence its alternative name: the Snake Bird.
Still relishing the warm weather. It's glorious!
