Skipper's Canyon Cemetery

Poor Robert. Just one of many people to die young in the gold mining town of Skipper's. This little settlement lies at the end of a long track, in the middle of nowhere. Life must have been hard and awful and yet in the schoolhouse where there are many photographs of the community as it once was we see a huge population, white weddings, hundreds of children and a stern school mistress. The village is now abandoned but the track still exists and we bumped our way there in a four wheel drive vehicle. Fantastic countryside but how difficult it must have been to get even basic supplies there.
