change in plans.
I woke up at 5:40 - and I have to admit, I snoozed the alarm clock twice. Did not necessarily feel the biggest urge to leave the bed and to boil water & to make breakfast porridge. Yet I had to start with washing the pot first. Could've had a better start.
The rest of the crew woke up slightly after 6 - way after waking up the trainers. The guides of the day had a lovely though - let 'em sleep until the porridge is ready. Me, the nasty customer insisted to wake them up, if we were hoping to leave at 8am.
We didn't leave at 8am, rather at 9. To slightly wrong direction. Ending up 500m off the course and some more knee-deep snow. Just as some of us figured out the technique, we were on the snowmobile track heading towards our next camp. Some problems with broken sledge. Some pressure on being on time to make the snow cave we were supposed to sleep the next night.
The guide urged us to continue and leave 3 people (experienced people who would've managed) behind so that we wouldn't be late. Me, the nasty customer said that I ain't moving before the whole group is together. This boy ain't leaving anyone to the mountains. Ever. Sorry for being such a stubborn. But that's who I am.
I just could imagine the feeling I'd have when I realized that the rest of the group (and the guide) has left us into nowhere. Wouldn't want that to my dearest enemy (not that I have enemies).
A lovely lunch at very decent time - soon after leaving it got cloudy and the weather showed it's best: freezing snow and such.
Around 4pm we heard good news - we were continuing the skiing track to Luulampi and to sleep in a tent there, instead of going to the original plan. Well, the original plan was that we'd be at the snow cave spot at latest at 2pm. We quite did not make it.
Lovely time with the tent comrades while having dinner outdoors. Lovely time with the whole group when discussing how the day went. Even better feeling when discussing on a bond fire about our feelings. The scary s**t. That was lovely.
Hannu, Minna and Heikki song a dear song. A song that lives within our hearts today and way forward in the future 'Ystävän laulu' - 'Friendship'. The lyrics (the Finnish one) are just like meant for people like us. Friends in Lapland, friends forever.
A lovely night with dear friends on a very spacious tent.
