Lost
I have a story to tell you, a story of what should have been a 6.5 hour drive taking 10+ hours.
The Man and I are advisers for the Venturing Crew on campus and today I left on the spring break trip with them. It's my first trip with the group and I'm flying solo, the Man is too important to miss work (damn him).
We started off fine, stopped for an early lunch, then got horribly separated from the group. I took on Louisville like a pro and after a bit of mad driving we caught up with them... only to have stuff fly out of one of the trucks. Minor delay, we get going rather quickly after that. Then the rain starts. And it pours. And we get lost again. And it gets dark and we're in strange mountains in a strange place (West Virginia, never been before). Around and around we drive, cursing and laughing until we get almost where we're going. But then we can't find our cabins and end up off property in the hills where a kind man living here led us, finally, to our destination. The first of many examples of WV hospitality on this trip.
We unpack, eat chili, laugh, and crash into bed for an early start the next morning.
