A candle for Japan
Last night, Japan was hit by one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded. Japan is a country prepared for quakes. In 1923, a quake killed 140,000 people. Since then, everything in Japan has been built with earthquakes in mind. Despite this, the earthquake has caused widespread destruction and the threat of a significant tsunami on both sides of the Pacific. So far, the death toll remains relatively low, but will exceed 1000 and could yet be many more.
Our thoughts are with the people of Japan.
